We all know that a casting director is an integral part of the creative and production process. For me, casting is much more than filling roles based on someone's specs alone. One very important part of casting happens before we even begin to put our sessions together..... The gathering of information, all that's to be considered, and defined at the very beginning of each project, gets cheated by many.

Along with getting specs, scripts, and boards the casting director needs to consider the individual and unique creative styles of both director and creatives.... As well as accessing fully the message or story that they wish to tell.

I start each and every project by personally achieving a clear understanding of your specs, your styles, and all you wish to convey, as well as seeing thru any/all changes as the project may evolve. Each casting project receives my individual focus, with imaginative and creative consideration from the very start. No two projects, no two clients, no two actors are the same. They are all unique and very exciting to me!

Whether your needs are finding the hottest new comedian, someone with a very obscure talent or look, negotiating “name” actors, or finding "real people" of any/all walks of life......I delight in the challenge.

I have never been, and never will be interested in becoming a "Casting Factory". Juggling 5 to 10 projects at once is just not something I want to do. After working for some of the busiest casting directors in town I've seen what greed can, and has done to the casting process. Breakdown in communication, and crucial information falling through the cracks becomes inevitable. Not to mention the stress that goes along with it. I'm just not interested in that. I truly love what I do, and never want that to change.

With the continuous influx of talent here in Los Angeles, I continue to research the undiscovered. Attending plays, showcases, and comedy clubs whenever time allows. While I respect, and know LA’s talent pool extremely well, in addition I'm always looking for the newest/latest as well as “real deal" to bring to a project. If time/budget allows, it’s very exciting to me to cast for "REAL PEOPLE"! If casting let's say the role of an "iron worker", a "volcanologist", or an "old Italian immigrant", why not see the real thing! It can, and has been magic!!!
So in addition to traditional SAG casting I continue to cast ALL sorts of "Real People". I've cast projects all over the United States. The experience of searching for "Real People" indigenous to certain locations has in turn gifted me with the ability to cast a wider range than many... My eye for "Reality" verses "Hollywood" has been extremely fine tuned by this process. When incorporating this with the ability to access the ever changing talent, and faces entering our talent pool here in LA, it has broadened my versatility, and capabilities that much more, providing my clients with the best possible cast for their projects. Never the "same old, same old"!

With this diligence and commitment to an imaginative and innovative approach to the casting process whether it be for commercials, film, or television I find myself filling today's comedic and dramatic roles with exceptional, and sometimes some very unexpected and exciting choices...

The director directs the project; I direct the casting sessions.
One very specific focus of mine is defining an actor's "essences" if you will, then using them to direct the actor. Getting a performance that is unique to them. I can’t do that if I’m not in the session.... By taking a moment to disarm an individual, one gets a glimmer, (sometimes more) of who they really are, and "what makes them tick". I can then determined exactly how and what direction to deliver, seldom finding myself saying the very same thing to each actor. They are after all individuals.... Having characteristics and thought processes that are individual and "essentially" true to them, and only them. Playing with those "essences" that I mentioned, brings greater truth and dimension to the actors performance. The results are extremely gratifying! It's so rewarding to witness the magic as it leaves the page, and seeing your specs, and message come to life. Not to mention.... I simply think it's part of my job.
